M-SParc and BIC innovation take businesses to the next level.

A new partnership between M-SParc and BIC Innovation will accelerate business growth and employment opportunities in North Wales.

Since opening in 2018, M-SParc has worked to stimulate the region’s economy; creating rewarding careers which pay well. Since opening, over 50 new careers opportunities have been created through 35 tenant companies, who are developing innovative products and solutions, even during these unprecedented times!

This long term agreement called Carlam will see BIC Innovation partnering with M-SParc to deliver innovative programmes in high value sectors of the economy.

The current offer is designed to help companies overcome actual and perceived barriers to growth and expand their companies to new territories, including the export market; especially interesting in the context of Brexit. The partnership provides direct access for M-SParc tenants to several innovation, internationalisation initiatives that support scale up. The intention is to grow the partnership in the future into further programmes and sectors.

Huw Watkins, Managing Director of BIC Innovation, explained “BIC Innovation provides support to companies in all sectors, who are committed to growth. We are expanding our team in North Wales to meet the growing demand from innovative businesses.

By partnering with M-SParc, we can provide direct and bespoke support to companies based on the Park and capitalise on the relationship with the University. Through Carlam, we are helping to commercialise ideas and create networks with both regional and international reach. The approach is proven to create real growth and expansion within companies, and as we know, with company growth, we see job creation and economic benefits for the region. There has never been a more pressing time to accelerate access to this support”

Pryderi ap Rhisiart, Managing Director of M-SParc, said “This is a long-term partnership, and we’re only at the beginning. It will be brilliant to see our tenants work with international partners and put North Wales and its innovation community on the global map.

This partnership, and offering to accelerate growth for our tenants through Carlam, is a link in a big chain which we call our ‘ecosystem’ here at M-SParc. With strong ties to Bangor University for their research expertise and skills, partners such as BIC Innovation, support from investment networks and experienced practitioners, and of course the cross-pollination of having all these innovative companies under one roof, we know we can see our tenant companies continue not just to succeed, but to thrive.”
