M-SParc open innovation

The development

During development, we captured the progress of the building. It can be seen below.

December / January update

We are in the exiting final period of the build. The landscaping work is well underway, with trees and benches being installed. The internal works are nearing completion, cleaners are in the building and painting is well underway. The graphics and finishes are being designed. We look forward to the next few months, and will soon be sharing our opening date, and details of events to take place on site.

September / October Update

Internal works are now well underway with walls being painted and electrical and mechanical systems being installed. The Corian fixing is underway and landscaping works has started. We will finish the roof in the next period. The reaction of tenants now seeing a bit more of the finished building has been incredible – they can’t wait to move in.

Almost all of the windows are now in, and the internal walls are being put up. Soon, work will begin on the external cladding. Terms are being agreed with several tenants now, to move in when we open. Do you see your business here? Remember to get in touch sooner rather than later in order to ensure you secure the best space for your busines. We are also still taking on new Virtual Tenants. If you would like a tour of the building in order to get a better idea of what we can offer you and your company, we will be happy to arrange.

The buiilding is really starting to take shape, and is being made waterproof in order for work on the interiors to begin. Below is a video, produced by one of our Virtual Tenants, showing the site progress. We have a growing list of virtual tenants, and a Business Support Officer in place to provide bespoke support to all of our tenants.
Now really is the time to get in touch with us if you think your business could benefit from locating at a Science Park. We have rental levels to suit all businesses and are offering free fit out and first choice of rooms to those early birds.
We're also pleased to say we're begining on our exciting arts project - Tanio. Parts of this will be incorporated within the final build.

Here's the latest fideo of the drone footage, showing work on the 5th of April.

Remember to come back for regular updates of work as it develops. We're very happy to announce that our Business Support Offier will begin working with us this month, and M-SParc now has 17 virtual tenants.

Another good month was had on site, with the steel frame coming out of the ground. We are also holding several community events and training, uncluding BIM support for the construction sector. Storm Doris was a challenge but on the whole we're happy with the site development.

January 2017;

The new road into site and car park are now complete and in use by the contractors. The foundations of the first building are in, and the steel frame is being erected. This is a very exciting time, and as we 'come out of the ground' the first building will begin to take shape for those who pass by the site. We're making excellent progress with our Community Benefits and Training Programme, and have held excellent meetings with Coleg Menai, who's students will become involved. The Tanio arts tender is out, offering a great opportunity for artists, carpenters, coders, and scientists to get involved. M-SParc now has 13 Virtual Tenants, and is in discussion with tenants who wish to be based in the first building. Please get in touch with us if you want support with your project or if you are interested in locating on our Park.

December 2016;

The work on the site is on-going, with the car park and the road between our new roundabout and the first building taking shape. We completed the development of the new roundabout and the erection of road signage.

November 2016;

Work on the first building is commencing, and the contractors Willmott Dixon are arriving on site.
A number of local people have been to collect logs from the site.

The Minister Ken Skates was on site on Monday the 31st to cut the turf, a ceremony which went well and generated much press attention. This reminds us that M-SParc is a project gaining national attention, and gives us a real chance to put Anglesey and North Wales on the map as a hub for innovation and emerging technologies - something we are proud to be a part of.
Minister VC and IWJ

Work to create a new roundabout to site is progressing well and the traffic lights will be removed and the new roundabout complete by the end of the month.

October 2016;

M-SParc own the site at Gaerwen, and full planning permission has been granted.
